Can-Do-Ability: Answers and Solutions from my personal experiences of living with a disability

Drawing His Way Down To Melbourne

2 Jun 2011Would you like to help someone with a disability out? Whilst also gaining something cool for yourself?

I did an interview with a man by the name of Brent Harpur back in March. Brent is legally blind, he has a hereditary eye disease which effects his corneas. To see my interview with Brent, click here: http://www.candoability.com.au/CDA/Blog/Brent-Harpur-The-Blind-Cartoonist_123.html

Despite barely being able to see past his nose some days, Brent is quite a successful cartoonist. He draws his quirky artworks for children and those who are young at heart. Originally from New Zealand, now living in Sydney, he has been known to sit on Sydney buses and trains and draw personalized works of art for fellow passengers, just to brighten their day.

Brent has made the decision to try his luck in Melbourne, Victoria. So he is moving down there next week. In preparation for his big move, Brent will be having a garage sale at his art space this weekend!

There’ll be lots of funky furniture, nick nacks and some of Brent’s original artwork for sale. The sale will begin this Saturday from 12pm – 3pm and then again on Sunday from 10am – 5pm. Some of the items available are: some beautiful old vintage furniture, stackable, lightweight chairs, a bar fridge, freezer, TV, set top box and DVD player, clothes racks, kitchen items, filing cabinets, tables, a bookcase, a retro 70’s two seater sofa, two armchairs, a double bed, art supplies and picture frames.

Brent will be leaving Sydney on the 11th June, but is still available for work if anyone wishes to hire him. Details on how to contact him are on my previous blog, just click on the link above.

Good luck in Melbourne Brent, from all of us here at NOVA Employment and keep up the good work!
